UltraEbre Swim Marathon 2026 sets record momentum with strongest international field yet
The 15th edition of the UltraEbre Swim Marathon is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the event’s history, with nearly 70 swimmers registered months before race day and entries continuing to grow toward the event’s capped field.
Taking place on 4 July 2026, UltraEbre is a 30.8 km downstream open-water marathon swim along the River Ebro between Tivenys and Amposta in southern Catalonia, offering swimmers ideal summer water temperatures and favourable current conditions.
This year’s start list already includes a strong international field from across Europe and beyond, with swimmers confirmed from Spain, the UK, Netherlands, Italy, France, Ireland, Canada, Colombia, Malaysia and more — making it one of the most diverse UltraEbre line-ups to date.
A unique river marathon swim experience
UltraEbre is widely recognised as more than a single-day race. The event is designed as a multi-day experience that allows swimmers and support teams to acclimatise, train in the river, attend briefings and lectures, and enjoy the landscapes and culture of the Terres de l’Ebre region together.
Participants benefit from:
• supervised swimming under World Aquatics open-water rules
• organised safety, medical and physiotherapy support
• official transport logistics for swimmers and kayakers
• access to training sessions and local pools in the days before the event
• structured pre-race briefings and community activities
Combined with the clean, warm summer water (around 24 °C) and the natural assistance of a downstream course, UltraEbre offers an ideal environment for swimmers preparing for major marathon challenges.
Strong growth in registrations for 2026
With registrations already nearing 70 swimmers and the event limited to a maximum field size, interest in UltraEbre continues to grow internationally each year.
The event attracts both experienced marathon swimmers and athletes preparing for longer channel or ultra-distance challenges, creating a uniquely supportive and ambitious atmosphere across the field.
