The versatility of DRYBONES

By Shem (ambassador)

Being in to all things outdoors, kit and suitable, durable clothing is essential to me. Not only to look good!! But safety, cost and effectiveness too. All play a major part. In keeping me warm, safe and happy so I can enjoy my outdoor pursuits to the max.

One of my main hobbies and outdoor achievements is kite-surfing, having done it for many years, both as leisure for my own pleasure, teaching and doing it all around the world.

I have had a few other brands of changing robe before I came across DRYBONES. I was drawn immediately to their vibrant colours and funky, cool logos and skeleton branding. Other brands were good because they were big and kept me warm, I could change in them, but they were too heavy and not very versatile. Setting up of a kite surf is technical and time consuming. It is imperative it is done securely and properly for ultimate safety and therefore enjoyment. I couldn’t actually set up my gear whilst wearing some other robes as they were too heavy and constricting on the use of my arms. I also couldn’t visually see clearly as they were too bulky. This is where DRYBONES was a game changer for me. It is lighter and more fitted, less bulky, so I can wear it whilst setting up, right up until the point that I take it off to actually getting in to the water. Keeping warm is a major priority with outdoor and water sports. I need to keep my DRYBONES robe on, from leaving the warm car, setting up all my kit, then to actually entering the water and starting my session. DRYBONES enables me to do that. It’s also imperative afterwards that I can get it back on straight away and keep warm whilst I pack away. Adrenalin is pumping and masking my body’s temperature reduction so it’s important I get my DRYBONES back on as soon as I get out of the water. My DRYBONES (and a have a few) is lightweight, more fitted, more versatile, allowing me to set up and de rig whilst wearing it the whole time, for ultimate warmth, safety and comfort.

I’m also a big fan of wild swimming in many beautiful areas, some being rather remote and off the beaten track. Sometimes I may have a good hike/trek before I actually get to my chosen spot. Once again, I can wear my DRYBONES whilst hiking, even over rougher terrain. It’s important I can wear my DRYBONES changing robe right up to the point I get in to the water, and on exiting straight away. Sometimes I even don’t get changed into clothes until back at the car, simply throwing my DRYBONES on over my swimming gear (or birthday suit!!) We also take the dog wild swimming with us and find it’s great if she also has her DRYBONES dog coat on to keep her warm and dry too.

There’s also a great element of ‘Instagram verses Reality’. Whilst my DRYBONES comes with me to all my outdoor pursuits and instagrammable photo opps and spots, it’s also something I revert straight to for other, more mundane jobs. To name a few this week I have worn it to beat the rainy and windy elements whilst fixing an outdoor tap and washing the wife’s new car!! Not nearly as glamourous, fun and exciting as my other DRYBONES escapades, but it is proving to be necessary, versatile and extremely useful all the same.

So whether it’s Instagram fun or boring reality, my DRYBONES is versatile enough to keep me Dry To the Bone!!
